Nathan and Akiko were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay a lot, it was quite close to Tsubame Onsen which we came to visit. The nature was stunning so we could stroll around.

Perfect ski lodge for our large family. The owners were very hospitable and quick to respond to our questions and needs. We took ski and snowboard lessons with Sam, Taki, and Kotone at Nozawa and Togari, and as it turns out Taki’s wife is a world class baker who cooked up the best breakfast buns this side of the Pacific. Thank you for making our family trip extra memorable!

Alpen Plaza review Unforgettable experience. Gorgeous family run hotel in a great location. Think European ski lodge with a Japanese vibe. The rooms are spacious and immaculate. The sitting area has a huge window with outstanding views across the valley. Breakfast and dinner are included and are a sumptuous home cooked Japanese feast cooked by the matriarch of the house. It has a cool traditional Onsen, just perfect for after a day of skiing. Both sons speak excellent English and nothing is too much trouble for them to arrange. I’m sure you’ll see little 5 yo Kai helping out the rest of the family or entertaining the guests! The Togari Onsen ski field is 5 minutes walk away. They are extensive but with no crowds. No wait at all for any of the lifts. Get to this accommodation and the ski field before the secret gets out. I cannot praise it highly enough. Lastly, I can’t understand their rating not being higher. I can only imagine that some might be looking for a more generic hotel experience rather than home cooked traditional meals and to be immersed in a Japanese Onsen experience.

Well located guest house in Madarao. Staff were excellent and very hospitable. Lift to/from the main ski area each day as required but we often walked as it was so close and easy. We were picked up from and dropped off at local train stations (Myokokogen and Iiyama respectively) by a staff member. Food was good particularly the one dinner we had at Maroudo. Onsen was a good temperature. Highly recommend.
