Even though the location is remote, a bus line arrive directly at the hotel. The onsen experience was great, even having Yukata for our 3 years old! Board games for kids and a long walk around the lake with some kids playground made it for a great time with the family. Food (breakfast and diner) was excellent, and a nice gift shop very well priced on the location!

Everything! The best accommodation experience of my life. The staff was amazing, very helpful and friendly, making sure you have a fantastic stay. The food is super tasty and an amazing experience. The lodges out back were comfy, cozy and comfortable. The private bathroom (you could book a slot for on day itself) was amazing too. There is a beautiful garden you look out on from the dinner room. As an European we loved Shimobe Hotel. We visited hotel to feel like Japanese people during vacation, and it was brilliant. We could dip our feet in hot water watching koi fish pool, we were invited to mash rice to make rice cakes during evening animations, and there is beautiful stone outdoor onsen. Everything was far beyond our expectations, and I recommend Shimobe Hotel to everyone seeking calmness, relax and friendly atmosphere in traditional Japanese style

It felt like a home away from home, it’s very quaint with lovely views around. Mama and Papa always put the fire on to ensure it was warm. The futons were surprisingly very comfortable. Wonderful to have exceptional home cooked food made with love for breakfast, bonus points for catering to vegetarians. Onsen with insane mt fuji views 10 minute walk away (discount provided by hosts). Great conversations, such lovely people to be around!
