My favorite stay in Japan across multiple trips and accommodations. Mrs. Tsuzuki and the staff were incredibly heartfelt and genuine, and I have never felt such genuine hospitality in my travels. The accommodation itself is very well furnished, a tasteful blend of traditional japanese and modern renovated convenience. There are no grocery stores or konbinis nearby save for a small self service cup noodle stand across the street, but Mrs. Tsuzuki kindly procured BBQ ingredients and drinks in advance for the whole two days! The inn makes a peaceful homebase if you want to explore Nikko by car, but I would absolutely recommend staying here just to explore the former copper mining city of Ashio where the inn is located. The city has a very interesting, rich industrial history, and is definitely very off the beaten path, if thats your thing. The locals were the friendliest I have encountered in Japan, I was floored by the kindness shown towards me by Mrs. Tsuzuki and everyone else! Note that I speak enough broken japanese to interact with the host and locals, which probably contributed to me having a great time, but I don’t think its a necessity to thoroughly enjoy a stay here.

Situated next to Lake Chuzenji, Hatago Nagomi is renovated in August 2017. The hotel features a restaurant, bar and free WiFi throughout the property. Free private parking is available on site.

Very nice onsen inside hotel…try it twice altough we only stay for one night Lovely and delicious breakfast Owner is very attentive…he greeted us when we miss the hotel and let us sit near the heater in the cold night and help us to bring the luggages by himself Upgrade the room with a great room with massage chair inside the room…it is so wonderful Amazing lake view…. Also near wonderful kegon waterfall and shrine

The food was absolutely wonderful- we weren't expecting to be treated to such a feast on a nightly basis! The children's meals were also pitched exactly right. The staff were lovely- they were polite and friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The onsen was clean and so relaxing- a great way to unwind every day. The room (we had Japanese style) was spacious, quiet and clean. It felt a bit special, with wonderful views.

Nikko Tokanso is a 5-minute drive from JR Nikko Station and Tobu Nikko Station. A shuttle service to these 2 stations is provided.

We had an incredible stay at this authentic ryokan, walking distance from the Toshogu shrine and museum complex. We are both vegetarian and the staff were extremely accommodating, providing an amazing meal full of local specialties. The private onsen is a great way to unwind at the end of the day. This was an authentic, but luxurious stay.

Set near Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Rinno-ji Temple, Hotel Seikoen is in Nikko and offers free private parking and a restaurant. This 3-star ryokan offers a 24-hour front desk and a lift.

Everything was amazing! Lovely house and the owner was the sweetest person ever. I thought the place was a bit far away from the main area of Nikko but we loved a good hike through the forest and finish at the temples and shrines. And the owner offered us a ride to the station when we were leaving. Awesome place.
