Leels Cottage absolutely exceeded our expectations, the cottage really is a luscious private haven and I wouldn’t change a thing. The room is so stylish and the photos don’t do it justice. The safari was absolutely amazing and Leel pulled over a couple of times to collect litter, one piece would have been particularly harmful to the wildlife, which shows his care and commitment to his job and the animals. Leel always maintained a very respectful distance to animals, which worked very much in our favour as one elephant approached us and grazed a metre from the truck. The safari breakfast made by Leel’s wonderful mum and wife was incredible, they really know how to do a picnic breakfast. The dinner we had at Leels was perfect, we could not be more impressed. 10/10 stay

Best accomodation we had in Sri Lanka! Even though we stayed only one night, owner arranged for us half day morning safari even if we arrived late evening. The accomodation is really nice, clean and spacey. Owner also provided us with tea and juice as welcome drink. He also left us to use a bathroom after the safari although It was already after check out. He also arranged for us a drive with his family to the bus station for free. Safari was great experience with the owner and his uncle with amazing breakfest in the jungle. Thank you for amazing stay! We would definitely recommend staying here!

As we really wanted to see wild elephants, we made a stop in Udawalawe, but spotting them wasn't our biggest suprise here. We stayed at the Amba Kola hotel and this was just the most wonderful experience. The kindest owners truely, the nicest room, a brand new and well kept pool, the most delicious food from the entire trip, and playful dogs amongst which the two most adorable puppies  🐶 As mentionned, the food was incredible and we had the chance to take part in the preparation by doing the cooking class with the owner. Something you should really try after a morning safari.  Janik is also so kind, ready to help you with anything, answer any question. He will make everything in his power to make you feel like the most valuable guest on the planet. If you are passing by, really we can't recommend it enough 😍 (we thought the 10 on booking was impossible. Well we thought wrong)

A warm and friendly personal service will greet you when you stay at this charming family run place. Spacious, clean and comfortable cottages with outdoor bathrooms, homemade cake and juice on arrival and advice for safari tours are all part of the service. Breakfast and dinner were some of the best food we ate on our trip, lovingly created for us with local ingredients used to create delicious Sri Lankan dishes. We went on a 6 hour private safari option arranged by Mango Tree and loved our experience spotting buffalo, many elephants, crocodiles, deer and a variety of different birds. A simple and tasty lunch was provided and served in the park. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and offered a personalised experience. The next day he swapped the safari jeep for a Tuk Tuk when we went to visit the orphaned elephants at the local transit home. I would suggest a 4 hours safari, more than enough to see animals. This was a very comfortable place to stay, truly homely and an excellent place to visit both the park and the elephant transit home.

A nice, new, quite and clean place surrounded by a beautiful garden. It was the best-equipped room we had in Sri Lanka. Amil and his wife are hard working and good people . They do their best and succeed in making you fell welcome and at ease. The breakfast and the other meals were good and plentiful. They organized our transfer from Sigirya with a professional driver and very nice person( Priyante). If we come back to Udawalawe we would choose again this lovely place.

Photos don’t lie! The best value ever. The place is just so beautiful, calm and relaxing. Lush green garden and private access to the lake. I would advise eating all your meals at this place, the food is different every time, you get sooo much food served and it tastes amazing! The host arranged a safari for us, he even gave us water, biscuits and bananas for the way. He is very kind and his sister is the best cook!
