The place is beautiful and a nice get away from the city. We enjoyed the tent. It was clean. They had provided everything you could need for a self catering place.

For those who prefer camping in the bushveld - there are also 10 luxury tents with spectacular views and uniquely each with a decadent hot tub on the patio. The game reserve is well stocked with plains game, great birdlife and for horse lovers - there is an option for game viewing on horseback. There are well marked trails for walkers and the proprietor is one of the leading astronomy guides in South Africa - so do ask about these spectacular and informative astronomy shows when booking. This is a fascinating part of the world - allow yourself to be immerse in nature AND one of South Africa's historical gems.

This property was a pleasant surprise, and we loved being right on the river. The units are basic, but have all that you need to have an enjoyable stay. Would definitely stay here again if travelling that way, or even for a little getaway.

We stayed at Maroela Cottage and loved the view from our terrace. Although the kitchen is perfectly equipped, you should not miss "dinner on wheels". We enjoyed it on three evenings. The food was outstanding. For us is perfect place to start our holiday and we appreciated the perfect mixture of guest care and having privacy. We heavily used the hiking opportunities on well marked trails, something hard to find anywhere else, safe hiking on front of your doorstep.
