This hotel was by far the best place we stayed on our trip. The breakfast was sumptuous and splendid, the welcome we got was like a welcome home, and every need was catered for. The weather was very cold but we we’re delighted to find electric blankets on the bed as well as a heater in the room. The tea and coffee selection was great and we got a cute bar one to snack on each! If we could give 11/10 as a rating we would. Definitely will be back and sad we only stayed one night, thank you Patrick!!

The host was very welcoming and gave us many tips for our journey. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, beautifully decorated to highlight the history of the home. Coffee and tea were available. We did not stay long in Swellendam, but were charmed by the picturesque buildings in the village.

Our stay at Sanbona was phenomenal! From start to finish we had an incredible stay. The staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us. The rooms in Gondaana were beautifully designed and had every amenity we could ever have needed. Sitting on our deck and watching the wildlife was unforgettable. Our guide Brenda was extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the local flora and fauna, whilst also ensuring we saw everything we wanted to see. The food in the restaurant was amazing and again, the design was faultless. Overall, a once in a lifetime experience!

We had the Africa Suite, which is a fantastic room. The staff is very lovely and welcoming and the entire complex is very well maintained. Breakfast is very delicious with a good selection of food. Parking on site is available and convenient. It is really such a nice place!

Swellendam is an ideal location for breaking a journey through the stunning Overberg Region and this boutique hotel is a Gem. Perfect for a couple of nights stay to or from the Garden Route. The hotel has been beautifully restored and retains its Victorian Heritage. The staff are attentive and very professional. Alison, the Owner, is a talented Chef and prepares all the food. The dinner menu was excellent, offering a wide range of dishes all beautifully prepared. Breakfast was also outstanding.
