The location in the old crater and near the highest volcano is impressive. We stayed 6 days at casa Helena with our 18 months old child and had a great stay. Sicilio and his family are super friendly, they cook delicious food and breakfast. They are always ready to answer questions about logistics (such as airport transfer) or activities (tour of the island, hikes) and to share their experiences. I also recommend Sicilio’s brother as guide to climb the volcano!

A selection of options including fresh pastries, fruits and cheese is available for breakfast, and breakfast in the room is also available. At the bed and breakfast, the family-friendly restaurant is open for dinner, lunch and high tea and specialises in African cuisine. Rosy & Ciza are very lovely and helpful. The food was excellent. We loved staying there :)

Offering a bar, the property is located within 300 metres of Sao Filipe Beach. The accommodation offers a concierge service and free WiFi. I have stayed here twice and really enjoyed it. The views from the public terrace of Sao Filipe are stunning. I stayed in the luxury room 10 two nights and it was so beautiful with a very high ceiling, a full two door window that opens to purple bougainvillea and the same gorgeous view as the terrace. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have tried in my life, firm but still soft. The workers are nice and helpful if you need any help planning a trip to the volcano, etc. The owner is generous and kind and the atmosphere among the staff is comfortable. Breakfast is a fancy version of a typical Cabo Verde breakfast: white bread, boiled eggs, guava jelly, Fogo traditional cheese, papaya, etc. The location is in the heart of Sao Filipe and walking distance to all the restaurants and the black beach.

At the bed and breakfast, every room includes a wardrobe. Every room comes with a private bathroom with a shower. What a great place! The location, the friendly, attentive, multi-lingual staff, the food, the beautiful patio, the piece and quiet, the view ... We LOVED it! Good starting point for various hikes. Highly recommend! Know before you go: water is rationed, but still plenty to clean up properly ;) The accommodation's restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, snacks for take away, dinner and drinks. All at fair pricing considering the location. Credit card payment is possible (foreign cards with a 3% fee). For those sore after hiking, you may even book a massage.

For guests with children, TCHAN LOVe features a children's playground and a kids' club. A car rental service is available at the accommodation. This is a very nice place to stay for couple nights. Quiet, comfortable. Breakfast was included and I have asked for it at 6am, so the Lady just left it from the evening (coffee in a termopot). Also you can ask for a dinner, which is really good, super tasty (Ive got a fish with rice and veggies for 900 escudo). And also you can ask for some wine (industrial or craft homemade, about 200 per glass). The place has not many reviews but it's seems super new, means you will have also super new bathroom which is nice bonus for staying. As for the transfer: you can book the place in Alluger with the room booking. The way from Sao Filipi is 50-60 mins and costs 1000 escudo. As for the trekking: 1. The location is the best, right next to the start of few trekking routes 2. You can ask the owner for a guide, just ask for someone local who is actually based here in Caldeiras and not in Sao Filipe. As for the Pico Grande you will definitely need a guide because it's super tricky route. For the Pico Grande the usual price is 6000 per person but it's could be a discount if you are in group 3. Also you can walk by yourself (without guide) for couple places: e.g Pico Pequeno (it's now that far) and also you can walk to the Forest Monte Velha (about 5 kms till the entrance to the Forest) or even to Mosteiros (about 16 kms in total, 10 kms at the normal road and 6 kms are a bit difficult, inside the forest - not the easiest trail but it's possible)

The bed and breakfast features a sauna and a 24-hour front desk. Adriano and Filomena welcomed our group of 4 people in their house. The place was perfect for us: great location, wonderfull view on the caldeira and on the volcano, quality of the staff, size of the room, good food made by them. They have done everything to feel at home. Take time to discuss with Adriano, he has many stories to tell you about the caldeira and about Fogo. Thanks Adriano and Filomena for these days on another planet !

If you choose to eat there, food is really great and you are welcome at the host’s.

With a terrace, the 4-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. Guests can make use of a bar. Everything was perfect. The location and the view is spectacular, even better than the photos. And the staff went above and beyond with everything. We were treated so well. The food was also delicious. Would definitely come back!

They went above and beyond to make my time in Fogo easy and special and I am so grateful! Also, the food at their hotel is DELICIOUS, the internet worked quite well, and the town of Cova Figuera is a very friendly place. I had a great experience and absolutely recommend this hotel as an excellent value!
