It's a family operation with lots of experience in hospitality. The rooms are clean and functional. The meals were nice too. We would definitely stay here again.

I booked for 2 nights with breakfast included in October. It was the end of the rainy season and everyone in town was busy with renovations for the upcoming high season. It is a family business and the hosts are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Ciza is a professional, very knowledgeable and passionate tour guide and Rose is an excellent cook. When booking, I did not inform them of my dietary needs (very sorry) and they were able to accommodate me on the spot, which I appreciated very much. I decided to extend my stay for another 2 nights because I really enjoyed it and there are many things to explore. I would recommend not only staying at Ciza&Rose, but also letting them organize the hiking activities for you so that you get the most out of your vacation in Portela.

Located in Chã das Caldeiras, casa alcindo offers a bar. Featuring a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with a restaurant. Guests can enjoy mountain views. What a great place! The location, the friendly, attentive, multi-lingual staff, the food, the beautiful patio, the piece and quiet, the view ... We LOVED it! Good starting point for various hikes. Highly recommend! Know before you go: water is rationed, but still plenty to clean up properly ;) The accommodation's restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, snacks for take away, dinner and drinks. All at fair pricing considering the location. Credit card payment is possible (foreign cards with a 3% fee). For those sore after hiking, you may even book a massage.

Right at the start for the hike to Fogo. The location in booking is (as of today) not correct, its right in the center of the village. But the owners are superfriendly and can send you the details via WhatsApp. I arrived late because I was hiking till sunset and he waited outside on the street, and after check in I got a really delicious meal. The room has 3 comfy beds, enough plugs to charge and extra blankets. The bathroom is modern and has a shower (unlucky only with cold water). In the main building there are tables and chairs and a small bar. There is beer, wine, softdrinks, water.... Everything is clean and the WiFi works great. Breakfast is included, but I didn't use it as I was out hiking. From the house you have perfect views of Fogo. I can really recommend this place.

The location and the view is spectacular, even better than the photos. And the staff went above and beyond with everything. We were treated so well. The food was also delicious. The location is good, at the edge of a peaceful and friendly village means no noises at night. Also not far from Fogo viewpoint (20min drive). Bus station 30sec walking, supermarket and restaurant 10sec as both are available directly in / at the house. The owner is super friendly and is easily available via booking or WhatsApp. The room is big, with a big comfy bed and enough plugs to charge your stuff. There is a small balcony, and the bathroom has a good shower with hot water. Everything is clean and the WiFi works great. Secured parking is also available. There is a nice terrace with a pool and great views. I really liked my stay here and can totally recommend this place.
