The house itself was lovely, comfortable and welcoming. Our room was exceptional, every detail well thought out! The main sitting room spacious. The restaurant area was welcome. Guests can benefit from a patio and a picnic area. There is an outdoor fireplace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. Full of character. A hidden gem. My 15-year-old daughter said within 5 minutes of being in the property, "I am in love and want to live here." Definitely a romantic and quirky stay, as advertised! Exceeded expectations. Offers something very different. Built in 1900, offering a sense of history. Spiral staircase up through the middle of the building gave it a 'lighthouse' feel. Modest in size, it felt grand. Self-contained. Stone lintles. Rustic, warm, and cosy appeal. Off the beaten track. Gardens were substantial. Lots of planting so will be nice in the summer. We didn't use the fire pit or have a bbq, but it would be perfect for that. Our puppy loved playing outside in the grounds. Dog friendly! There are a few gaps in the fencing, so you need to be paying attention to any 4-legged friends that might want to 'explore'. Big comfy sofa and a selection of dvds were available to finish off our evening. Nice chocolate biscuits, tea and coffee provided too. Bedding and towels included. Short drive to Goodrich Castle, which is a lovely heritage site. We had dinner in Ross at the Hope & Anchor. Taxi was £20 each way, although it is an easy drive. Other options are also available closer. It's worth noting that the WiFi is limited and a work in progress. Also, the spiral staircase would be tricky for anyone with mobility issues. These were non-issues for us. For my wife (it was her birthday) and my daughter, who had a small separate sleeping quarters, this was a perfect stay. Kind thanks to our host, Miriam. We couldn't have had a better stay.. We hope to visit again!

It was great and a welcoming set up for a family with young children. We stayed in room 345 and the room was spacious, clean and well set out with good quality fittings, comfortable beds and nice toiletries. We also didn't feel like we would be disturbing other guests. The breakfast buffet was really great with something for everyone and it was good to have a late check out and to be able able to use the leisure facilities until we left. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and overall it was a great value stay.
When I booked our two night stay, it was mainly on the basis of convenience - I was just looking for a decent place that could accommodate our party of two couples and a young child, close to the venue of the family wedding that we were attending. In the event, The Old Vicarage turned out to be an absolute gem - welcoming, very comfortable and wonderfully characterful. Our stay there enhanced our enjoyment of an already very special weekend.
Fantastic view and accommodation was spread out enabling us to self contain our family from older parents, who benefitted from the ground floor en suite. Nicely decorated and well equipped especially for children; felt clean and homely with a lovely enclosed garden which felt safe for the children to be roaming in. No evidence of other users bringing pets, which was great.
The family room we was staying in was perfect around the family’s requirements and comfortable beds. Spacious room and had what was described on the description and facilities of the room. In a nice enclosed area so we wasn’t inside the pub itself but we could definitely tell it is a popular pub and I could see why. We didn’t hear or see any nuisance, which was definitely a bonus!
The hosts were fantastic. Really family friendly and most helpful. The property was perfect and had everything you would need.
We stayed in a garden room . Small but perfectly adequate. Breakfast was great . The restaurant was fully booked in the evening as it was St Valentine’s night . We ate in the Orangery and it was great. We stayed at the Hotel as we had a family funeral near by and the wake was at the Hotel . We will stay again.
Needed to cancel as family poorly but could not get refund although when at hotel I was told it will be sorted but no so won’t be going back in a hurry
