The hotel itself exceeded my expectations, aesthetically it was beautiful, spacious and a delightful place to stay. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help me (including via a translator app when needed). The breakfast was amazing, one of my favourite I have ever had at a hotel. The hotel amenities such as the onsen and the lounge with free evening beverages were a treat. If you get a chance to book dinner (need 24 hours notice) it will not disappoint!

We were so impressed we have changed our plans and will be returning at the end of our holiday

The ryokan has family rooms as well as facilities for disabled guests. Excellent Dinner and Breakfast. All inclusive drinks. Private Onsen/Hot spring was amazing. Staff were very accommodating and the Cherry blossom in full bloom along the nearby river was a huge bonus. Excellent artworks throughout the property

Free WiFi is available throughout the property, and free private parking is available on site. fantastic dinner and breakfast. friendly staff, nice onsen and front desk able to communicate in English.

Featuring a garden and a bar, Petit Resort Hotel Der Barte is located in Zao Onsen. The 3-star guest house features mountain views and is 600 metres from Zao Onsen Ski Resort. The guest house has family rooms. Fantastic location, right on Uwanodai slope - actual ski-in ski-out. Host was extremely friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant was great and good value. Nice draught beer! Shower in room with a shared hot bath that could be booked for free. There's a ski/boot room in the basement that opens onto the slope. The decor is a bit dated but in a very charming way.

Tagoto features a hot public bath, Japanese-style and Western rooms and Japanese cuisine, a 5-minute drive from Aizu Wakamatsu Station. It offers free Wi-Fi throughout the propert and free parking is on-site. - Very charming ryokan conveniently situated within walking distance from the JR Nanokamachi station and in close proximity to attractions like the Noguchi Hideyo Seishun Street and the Suehiro Sake Brewery. - The meals (dinner and breakfast) were the highlight of my stay. Having told the staff in advance that I had food allergies, they went above and beyond to servemeals for me that were safe for me to eat but also very delicious. The variety of dishes served was impressive. The staff also offered to create onigiri (rice balls) out of my unfinished breakfast. - The staff were very warm and accommodating and their interactions with guests contributed to the ryokan's very homely atmosphere. As a thoughtful gesture they gave me an akabeko keychain upon checkout as a souvenir - The private hinoki bath was a delight (note: you have to book it in advance during check-in) - The futon in my room was exceptionally fluffy and I slept really well

A free shuttle is available from JR Kaminoyama Onsen Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking. The hotel picked us up at the JR station in town. The hotel staff are very helpful. The room was great, our semi-outdoor bath looked out into a little garden. They had a small outdoor onsen, perfect for a cold winter evening. Our set breakfast and dinner were fantastic, as we had a private dining room. The complimentary drinks were a nice welcome for a cold wet day.

When we called from the train station near by, the hotel fixed shuttle bus for us, which was very helpful. It was very good for family with small children as well. We all enjoy very much together. The view from the room was excellent.
