I forgot my glasses in the hotel room an pd hadn’t realised, but they messaged me to let me know and I was able to retrieve them again. The hotel has a lovely old style room. The breakfast area and garden is so tranquil. The location is perfect, so close to the main square of Valladolid.

The property has city and inner courtyard views, and is 500 metres from Merida Bus Station. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk, a shared kitchen and luggage storage for guests. This is one of the most charming Airbnbs I have visited. I Have traveled in Asia, North Am, and Europe, but this Airbnb was different. It was beautiful beyond words. When I entered it from the street, it felt like I walked into a universe of art, heritage and warmth. I also met some interesting travellers like art historians etc. Highly recommended when visiting Merida. Also staff is polite, courteous and responsible.

A spectacular property in the forests with: - gardens that are manicured just at the right level - its own cenotes (you can swim in one semi-open one, not sure about the other ones) - its own cave that you can visit with a (Spanish) guide - a mirador just like in the pictures (only open in the morning and evening, but I'm sure if you asked you could go up during the day) - a bonfire place near the tents - a spa for massages Everything is beautifully designed and so well thought through. A few notes: - When we were there in July, the place was very quiet, which added to the magic. - In my head, I had expected more jungle (could have probably known better with more research). The "jungle retreat" was less jungl-y than a number of places we had come from between Valladolid and Celestun. No howler monkeys, no big snakes, etc. (I don't think) However, we did see a grey fox (!), iguanas and lots of beautiful birds and butterflies. - Because I wanted a full jungle immersion experience, I had booked a tent - they have a lot of "windows" and I thought you would be closer to nature than in a concrete house. However, since we visited in July with 36° C and high humidity, we decided to move to a suite (with AC; the tents have fans only of course). They were absolutely gorgeous (a shower open to the sky! a whirpool! a daybed! two hammocks!) and because there weren't very loud jungle noises at night anyway, I don't think we actually missed out. - The restaurant was great. You can probably drive to Tekit (we didn't), but I'm not sure there are many decent alternative food options there, so you might be a bit limited. - We brought many bottles of water. Turns out this was unnecessary - you get water everywhere. - Communication works via WhatsApp; they were very responsive and helpful. - The staff happily drove elderly people around in buggies. - This is a place to go to for pure relaxation. - The Internet was no problem at all.

You can prepare your own food in the kitchen before eating on the private balcony, and the aparthotel also offers a family-friendly restaurant. Amazing place to stay in El Cuyo, we had a great time staying at Cucu. The room was very comfortable, nicely designed and clean, the breakfast and morning coffee delivered to the room every morning were delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful. When we come back to El Cuyo we will definitely stay in Cucu again.

Just one minute walk to the beach and about 15 minutes to the centre of El Cuyo. Staff speaks good English and is really helpfull with tips for your trip around Yucatan. We had a really great stay! Also a good place for birding, with species like Yucatan Bobwhite, Yucatan Vireo and Yucatan Jay close to the hotel!

I enjoyed a wonderful week at this hotel located 2 minutes walk from the endless El Cuyo beach in a quiet spot. The owners are so friendly and hospitable you will feel right at home in this place. Rooms are very spacious with recreational areas to each side, a nice clean pool and very comfortable beds. Both AC and fans are available in the rooms but the constant sea breeze ensures a pleasant temperature and especially at night.
