Heavenly retreat above the clouds in a luxurious retreat. Waking up with a view on to Java volcanoes and plunging into a jacuzzi is priceless. Being surrounded by lush vegetation immersed in clouds made this stay truly memorable. More than anything I’d like to praise the hotel’s support when our daughter hurt her foot and needed medical care. A local driver was called on the spot and accompanied us all the way to the nearest hospital and back (Putu, thank you so much). The hotel management was in permanent contact and the resort manager followed up personally on the matter (my appreciation to Mr Putra). A word of praise for the quality of the medical care received, all the kindness and support. Also a mention to Ketut for his attentiveness and professionalim.

Umah Lusa is a credit to those who envisioned it, created it and work every day to ensure the highest standards of genuine hospitality. The setting is spectacular; an almost heavenly hilltop aspect, seemingly above the clouds and a world away from the tourist crowds. The views over the hills towards the sea, the stunning pool, and the beautiful gardens are just the start. The stand-alone rooms are quietly luxurious, well-appointed and extremely comfortable. The in-house massage was excellent, and the steam room and sauna were a welcome addition. The restaurant setting is sublime at any time of day, and we enjoyed everything we tried from the extensive menu, which offers both local flavours and Western options, all done very well. However, the highlight of our stay was the staff who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Their welcoming smiles and genuine engagement were a sheer delight and will live long in our memories of this stunning property.

In the lush hills overlooking Bali's unspoilt North Coast, nestled among spice plantations, with views of Java’s distant volcanoes, you find a small, luxurious retreat with a special sense of calm.

The Damai is our favourite place to stay in Bali, and we stayed at some great places. The room was beautifully presented, the private pool was outstanding and we had uninterrupted views down the lush green valley to the coast. The staff looked after us like family and the Balinese dancing lessons for the local school children on the entrance steps were such a wonderful introduction to the local culture. The location is wonderfully serene and quiet, you can't help but relax. The restaurant by the reception pool is superb, albeit expensive by Balinese standards but worth it. The breakfasts were also outstanding. Buy the Damai cookbook, there's a copy on the coffee table at reception but it's not obvious you can buy it unless you ask. We used the shuttle to the local beach and some other restaurants as well, Lovina is a lovely little place without the crowds and pressure to buy that you get in the south of the island.

Maha Hills is a perfect getaway in the North!! When you arrive at Maha, the first thing is the VIEWS overlooking the mountains, they are breathtaking! Also, they have an infinity pool at the top and it is amazing! The rooms are spacious with a nice terrace and they are clean. The food in the restaurant is very delicious, so big kudos to the people in the kitchen - they defo know what they are doing! And the service is amazing - people working in the resort are very friendly, helpful and warm, so we were very happy about our stay over there! A definite recommendation for the North of Bali!

This is a wonderful hotel and area. High in the mountains. Lovely views. It rained in the evenings but that did not bother us. Some in the straff talks good english and everybody are very polite. We were on a trekking to the four waterfalls which was a walk with many stairs and very nice. Visit Rosas bamboo weawing in the Village and support the local Handicraft. The food in the restaurant is a bit to spiceless in our taste but We asked to spice it more and the the balanesian food was good. We will definetly go back to Shanti.

Everything, super spacious rooms, amazing staff, best food we ate in Bali. They had free water sports and yoga classes every morning. Great place.
