Toyama
River Retreat Garaku offers luxurious modern rooms and suites for a peaceful getaway on Jinzu River. The hotel houses two restaurants, a café, free-access sauna and hot spring baths as well as an aroma-treatment massage parlour. The new wing designed by Naito Hiroshi, a renowned Japanese architect, displays numerous art pieces throughout its Art Walk. Food: The Japanese style breakfast and French dinner were both exquisite. Room: Fabulous view of the river from the room. Clean, cosy and you can find many little things that show the thought put into the design. For example, there is a small sliding window between the bedroom and the bathroom that you can open and close. Spa: The experience was so pampering and relaxing, I fell into deep sleep and woke up feeling incredibly refreshed.

The bedding is luxurious, the room is larger than a standard Japanese room. Staff speak good English and have a high Standard of customer service. Close proximity to the train station and transport hub.
Fantastic location. Lovely nature and superb hospitality. We enjoyed it thoroughly. On request, they had offered vegetarian meal and it was excellent. Our special thanks to the chef and his team. We will surely come back for a longer stay.
GOOD communication in English & Chinese as check in step, clean, safe, and good location。 Hopefully,APA marketing share VIP deal for loyalty foreigner members.
I have a wonderful stay in Gokasanso. The location is centralised and ideal to visit all Gassho house Heritage site. The meals are not boring as the chef will not repeat the same dishes for my 4 days stay in Gokasanso. I like the staff giving us dance performances of Kokiriko. It is a memorable experience.
Very luxurious. Room was enormous, private onsen was great. Top notch service
EVERYTHING! AMAZING NEW HOTEL; EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE, SPACIOUS, LUXURIOUS AND SUPER WELL DESIGNED; TONS OF STUFF PROVIDED - COFFEE, TEA, COFFE MACHINE, KETTLE; daily change towels and refills; bath tub; rain shower; separate toilet area from bath. Gorgeous; STAFF- CANNOT BE MORE COURTEOUS, NICE, FRIENDLY, HELPFUL AND RESPECTFUL. WOULD STAY AGAIN ANY TIME AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO OTHERS.
Dinner was superb and I gave extra credit to the lady who assisted us. Additionally, the breakfast and staffs were very good. Love free bar.
The best place I have been in Japan so far. Clean, big, futon is amazing, localization is surreal, staff 5 stars. What a pleasure to stay in a 300 year house!
Have the exclusive makeup area for women !excellent!
Everything! The room was clean, and the staff were very warm and welcoming. Location is perfect for us as the midagahara wetland was just beside the hotel. It's also quieter compared to the famous Tateyama Hotel. If you prefer a quiet, peaceful place, Midagahara is a good choice. Day light was long in spring, so we could do a morning trail walk at 5 am. I am very grateful to the chef for my vegetarian meal request. The vegetarian kaiseki (see photo I shared) was superb.
