Kandalama Heritance is a 20-minute drive from UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the 2,000-year-old cave temple at Dambulla and the Sigiriya rock fortress. The 5-star hotel is a 3.5-hour drive from the airport. I’m wordless and speechless. This is once in a lifetime experience of the jungle. You must feel it. This is truly Bawa’s masterpiece. I’ve never experienced such interaction between nature and concrete like there. Make a plan for this trip now!

Set in Kandy, 17 km from Kandy Royal Botanic Gardens, The Flame Tree Estate & Hotel offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Featuring a terrace, the 5-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The accommodation provides room service, a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage for guests. During our trip to Sri Lanka – a 14-day circuit – we stayed three nights at the Flame Tree Estate. And what happiness! In terms of accommodation, this was our best stopover. This estate-hotel, near Kandy, is a delicacy for the eyes, ears, and taste buds. Wonderfully located in a dream setting, its infinity pool offers breathtaking views of the lush jungle. At night, you will admire the constellations of stars. Saturn and Jupiter are overhead. We had booked the keys to the “cordial crocodile” room located in the recent annex building with an “art deco” style design. The room was very nice, nicely decorated. The bed was as high as it was comfortable (the bed was very high and very comfortable). The bathroom, all in black, was splendid (don't get lost in the shower 😊, it's huge); We booked a room with a view and the view does not disappoint! From the bedroom terrace, the view of nature was breathtaking. As for the main building where the common areas are located, strolling there is a real pleasure. It's a real art gallery inside. The numerous works as well as the carefully chosen decorative objects give the place its very personal character: singular, delicate, and refined. The harmony of colors contributes to the aesthetics of the place. The meals were delicious and very filling. Evening dinner, served as a set menu, was a delight. What to add? That reading the explanatory brochure on the estate left in the room gives a smile. David is English, he has the English humor that we love. How we loved the choice of music, diffused subtly in the living room. That getting lost to find the entrance to the 1H30 walk is a game 😉. An unforgettable memory for us. That when we left the place, we had a little twinge in the heart. But in such a case, better to be sad than happy 😉 Thanks, David, for the welcome. Thanks for sending us the flame tree playlist. Thank you to the whole team for this moment: an enchanted parenthesis. Thank you for your smiles and care.

Simpson's Forest - Luxury Boutique Resort & Spa - Kandy has free bikes, outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and garden in Kandy. Each accommodation at the 5-star hotel has mountain views, and guests can enjoy access to a terrace and to a bar. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, room service and free WiFi throughout the property. My recent stay at Simpson’s Forest – Luxury Boutique Resort & Spa in Kandy was, without a doubt, one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of Meenawatta Estate, the resort is a true sanctuary for those seeking tranquility, natural beauty, and heartfelt hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and care. A special thank you to Sachini (Front Office Executive) whose exceptional support throughout our stay made everything seamless. Her attention to detail and dedication to guest comfort truly elevated our entire experience. The design of the hotel strikes a perfect balance between elegance and nature. Surrounded by pristine landscapes, the property is immaculately maintained, with stunning gardens, flowering plants, and breathtaking mountain views in every direction. The air is fresh, the atmosphere peaceful—it’s the perfect escape from the busy world. One of the standout features of the resort is the infinity pool, offering a surreal experience as you swim above the forest canopy with panoramic views of the misty hills stretching endlessly beyond. I found myself returning to this spot every morning and evening—each moment more magical than the last. As part of their offering, the hotel provides a free guided tour around the surrounding area, which is a must. Walking through the tea gardens and forest paths, discovering the local flora and fauna, and soaking in the serene beauty of nature made me fall even more in love with this place. The restaurant deserves a five-star rating of its own. The food was consistently outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Special thanks to Yatawara for his incredible hospitality and service. He went above and beyond to make each meal a delight, and his warmth made every dining experience feel personal and memorable.

Each meal at Santani is an experience, and with no printed menus, the chefs propose a menu to each guest based on the dietary preferences and utilizing the fresh organic vegetables grown on site. All room categories are available on a full-board basis. The staff made my boyfriend’s birthday so special. We arrived by tuk tuk (after a few breakdowns) and they even fixed it for us. Turn down service was luxury and the massage was the best I’ve ever had. Once in a lifetime bliss for us and worth event penny. We also loved our waiter who loved rugby and cricket just like us, and took the time to really chat to us.
