Everything was elegant and top quality, so much attention to detail that made our stay feel so luxurious. We had a suite with garden access, with a large veranda area. The whole suite was very spacious and very comfortable. Service and support was top notch! Breakfast views from the Avista restaurant are stunning. The food was excellent, and we would highly recommend having lunch and dinner there if time allows. We had access to the facilities of the Cliff Bay hotel next door, wish we had more time to make full use of everything on offer!

Set on a cliff in 10 acres of subtropical gardens overlooking the Atlantic, this 5-star resort features an oceanfront spa, 3 swimming pools and direct access to oceanic waters. Beautiful gardens and swimming pools area, comfortable and clean rooms and common areas, great breakfast, friendly and attentive stuff, all this made our stay at this hotel with own character very pleasant. The swimming pool with ocean water at the sea level was also absolutely great!

Beautiful, spacious and very clean room with ocean view, we stayed here for our honeymoon and we are very happy with the choice- they even prepared a small surprise for us. Breakfast is diverse and delicious. Would come back here anytime.

Situated atop a natural peninsula, The Cliff Bay provides panoramic Atlantic Ocean views and private sea access. The Cliff Bay is a wonderful hotel. Every member of staff, reception, dining room, bars, spa, household are thoroughly professional. Our room ( no 724 ) with fantastic views overlooking the ocean and marina, was immaculately cleaned every day and well equipped with mini bar, baths robes, slippers, even a choice of pillows. The food in both the restaurants, we used, was delicious, well presented and varied. Restaurant staff were so well trained and welcoming. There was lovely background music played live as we ate, from singers, musicians and even a traditional Madeiran band. The spa was excellent, we used it 5 times for massages and treatments. We had a wonderful stay at the Cliff Bay. We spoken to other guests who echoed our opinion of the hotel. Some had returned there many times.

Casa Velha do Palheiro Relais & Chateaux is a 5-star manor house hotel situated in the old Palheiro Gardens in the foothills of Funchal. Everything, truly beautiful !! highly recommended
