Set in a historic building that was completely renovated in 2015, Hotel Krone Speicher is a 4-star hotel in the centre of Speicher in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. St. Gallen is 7 km, or a 10-minute drive, away. Breakfast was very good. Freshly made coffee and good choice of fruit, cheeses, meats plus cooked eggs and bacon.

All of the spacious and modern rooms come with a flat-screen satellite TV, wooden floors and a seating area. A balcony with views of the surrounding area and a bathroom with free toiletries, a hairdryer, slippers and bathrobes are standard in each unit. Free WiFi access is offered in each room. The room was very clean and modern. We had the impression the furniture was new. The view to the lake gives a nice touch. The spa is very good and they serve water, tee, fruits and nuts the whole day.
