In the main hall there is a souvenir shop with a lot of things and local products to buy. If you want, is possible to reserve and enjoy the private onsen (open-air!). Outside baths were 2 different scenarios, one was gorgeous with five separate river rock soaking areas overlooking the river and forest, the other was 1 wooden tub in a small pavilion. Women have the beautiful spot afternoon/evening and swap with the men in the morning. Our room was very large and comfortable with a balcony and private soaking tub. The buffet style dinner and breakfast were delicious. Huge variety of freshly prepared foods. All you could eat and drink, beer, wine, various alcohol, sake, in the restaurant. The reception area had a piano, wood burning central fireplace to sit around. There were small tables with various board games, a library, snacks, beer and wine. Comfortable seating overlooking the hillside that was lit up at night. Very romantic spot to go for a special night.

I was captivated by the style of the rooms but the place is even cooler than it looks! They have both a sake bar and a cafe and while I didn't get time to visit the former the latter was the place for our breakfast and I loved it. The beds are comfy and they make very good use of the limited space in the rooms (and they are still more spacious than what you'll find in a salaryman hotel like APA). The staff was very accommodating of us and they spoke way better english than we expected (especially compared to what we found in Tokyo). Definitely want to come back to Tohoku and this place!
