The concierge walked me to the check-in and a porter carried my bags to the room, quite amazing for 5000-ish yen a night. The room was much bigger than in a modern hotel, it had proper timber furniture and there was a real bathroom with tiles and marble. The lobby is quite dazzling. It is a ten-minute walk to downtown with a peaceful path along the river in the other direction. I would go back in a heartbeat, I could even imagine living there!
