The cottages are fitted with a flat-screen TV and DVD player. All units feature a seating area where you can relax. Certain rooms include views of the mountains, pool and the Caldera river which runs through the entire property. All have a private bathroom with a shower with hot water and certain toiletries provided, and also kitchen with gas grill. It's hard to know where to start. This is without doubt one of the best places I've ever stayed. The highlight being our conversations with Frank (the owner). He is the real life Indiana Jones and took an afternoon out of his spare time to show me and my two sons around the property. We went swimming with him up river and over his bridge to the jungle. He told us stories which can fill a lifetime. I feel.honored to have spent time with him, an absolute living legend. He taught my boys life lessons I could only dream of plus he found a Fer de Lance snake on his grass as be was talking to us which my son's thought was incredible. Now when my sons show a weakness about not wanting to help out around the house or do any work, I ask them "what would Frank do?" This makes them get right to it. The pool is great, the cabins superb and the place is so brilliantly created with nature surrounding it that you will be stumbling over huge cane toads at night and snakes during the day. Listen to Frank, don't wear flip flops! Come for the views and the river, stay for Frank.

A good location for a relaxing holiday in Las Lajas, Residence Las Lajas is a bed and breakfast surrounded by views of the mountain. This 4-star bed and breakfast offers private entrance. You can tell that the property owners put their heart and soul into these facilities. The room was very intentionally styled down to every little detail and a very fun vibe! The property and gardens were beautiful and extremely well kept and the room was very clean. The property owner went out of their way to accommodate us with a late arrival and was very kind. I didn’t use the pool but they looked lovely. We also had a sweet neighbourhood kitty visit us which I loved.

Marcelo was so helpful during our stay and is an all around great guy! The Palo Alto is extremely lucky to have him. The hotel has impeccably beautiful gardens and is quite serene with the sound of birds. Our room had an amazing view of Volcan Baru and we enjoyed watching as the light and weather changed up at the top. The outdoor bar provides a full lovely breakfast with friendly service and views of the river. In the evening the bar is quite romantic with a fireplace to keep you warm. We enjoyed having a drink at sunset (with Marcelo bartending) and then relaxing in the hot tub after a half day of hiking. The hotel far exceeded our expectations!
