Guest Houses in Gjelaj

The house is high up in the mountains. We rode our motorcycles there. The track to the house is rocky so I’d say don’t attempt it unless you are fairly confident with your off road riding skills. They also do a pick up service. The house overlooks the town and there’s mountains in all directions. It has the most breathtaking view. We originally wanted to just stay one night but changed it to four because it’s so beautiful up in the mountains. The host are an elderly couple who don’t speak English. They try their best to be hospitable. We had dinner at the house made my the hostess every night. Dinner is simple and satisfying. Breakfast is included. It is an Albanian donut like ball thing with jam and honey. I love this donut thing. She makes them fresh in the morning. The house has a fireplace and they started a massive blazing fire for us to dry our motorcycle clothes after we did the laundry using their washing machine. There are chickens, a cow, a sheep, and a few horses in their garden. There’s the animal part of the garden and there’s the human part of the garden. Sometimes the animals would walk over to the human side and the hostess would come out of nowhere and chase them back. It was quite a hilarious scene to watch a naughty horse and cow in trouble slowly walk past the window with a lady behind them shooing them. The couple are really really nice and made our stay very enjoyable and personable. The WiFi works quite well. About 20-30 mbps. Good enough for zoom calls and Netflix. Better than a restaurant’s WiFi down in Theth. WiFi connection is available only in a few places though mainly the living room. In certain corners if the room you might get signal.

Location was great if your walking the valbonë-theth hike. The room was super nice with a cozy balcony. The room and hotel in general, was very clean. We had dinner there which was very nice and tasty. Breakfast was also good. Traditional Albanian breakfast which we have eaten in every city , but in a buffet style, which was the first time we had. This was especially nice since you then can choose how much you want of the different «dishes». The staff was also great, helped us with booking taxi back to shköder/tiranë. Very service minded and entertaining.

Guesthouse Rama was a wonderful experience!!! The host family were very friendly and hospitable. It’s in a great location in Valbonë as it’s walking distance to a swimming spot by the lake and to the start of the Valbonë - Theth trail. We also had a lovely breakfast!

Age, the host, is the most welcoming person we have seen. The beedroom was great and the landscape also awesone. This is a must.

We are a family of 4 and we have been very satisfied with our 4 night stay. The host is very welcoming and speaks good English. We had lovely homemade breakfast and dinner every day. We would definitely recommend Camping Freskia, and hope that we will have the opportunity to revisit this beautiful place again.

spotless clean, great location to escape city life and be surrounded by mountains and animals. the staff is extra helpful and nice, home food is exceptional. would come back any time

Great stay in Panorama guest house ! The hosts helped us getting us some precious info for our walks ! The breakfasts were delicious !

Beautifully curated place, from the garden, to the rooms, to the breakfast and dinner with typical local Albanian food. Extremely nice and helpful people, true to the proverbial Albanian hospitality.

The guesthouse is not only set in an idealic setting at the base of the mountain with spectacular scenery, but it is moments from the trail. The owners were extremely helpful and kind. Dinner and breakfast were both amazing, and as farm to table as you can get, down to the honey and cheese, made by the owner. I was in a room with three single beds. My room shared a modern, clean washroom with another bedroom upstairs. Staying at this guesthouse, meeting the owners and enjoying the meals has been a highlight of my trip to Albania. I wish I had stayed longer!

Everything! The place is well located, clean and comfortable. The owners were incredible! And the food delicious!
