I had an amazing stay in Shimoda! The place was wonderfully authentic, with a charming atmosphere that felt uniquely local. The beach was just a short walk away, and there was a nearby restaurant serving excellent food—definitely a highlight of my trip. The landlord was incredibly kind and accommodating, even driving me to the train station after my stay. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a relaxing and genuine experience.

Stayed for a couple of days and nights. The room my partner and I stayed in was a good size for the two of us, also had a sink just outside of the room to brush our teeth, which was great and a window to look out at the mountains. Bus stop right outside for easy transport to and from the shops. 10 min walk to the train station as well. Best part of the whole stay was the two incredible hosts. Even with the slight language barrier, they made us feel at home, helped if we needed it, made sure we were warm when eating, recommended spots to explore, and even drove us downtown. Can't thank them enough! I'd stay again and recommend them to anyone looking for a place in the area.

Such an amazing and lively place. The staff were so kind and welcoming and the house is very clean, with a cool design and a lot of space. Our room was really nice, with a comfortable bed and a beautiful views of the hills. The shared spaces had tons of games, information books about the area and books to share. If I visit the Izu area again, I will definitely stay here. The place already looks cool on the images in booking, but in reallity is even cooler!

This guesthouse is a hidden gem in a remote location, peaceful and surrounded by nature. The detached ocean view camping style room was a highlight, letting me fall asleep to the sound of waves and wake up to a stunning sea view. Right in front of the guesthouse there is a small island, and you can even swim directly in the ocean which was such a rare and unforgettable experience. The guesthouse itself is simple and cozy, and the nearby hotel provides access to excellent facilities including an onsen and BBQ. Being able to relax in the hot spring after a swim and enjoy a BBQ dinner made the stay complete. The remote setting, the unique ocean view room, the chance to swim in front of the island, and the nearby hotel’s facilities all come together to make this a true 10 out of 10 experience. I would happily return.

I loved everything! The guest house was extremely clean and the personnel super nice and welcoming! They kept our suitcases for us even after the check-out, and also gave us service nuts for our drinks! The position was amazing, we were in front of a temple and the beach! I will go back for sure!

Excellent location - right next to the Sakura tunnel. You can enjoy it at night and slowly make your way back to the station the next day. It's a Japanese style house so it is very cosy and calming. The cat is also adorable and friendly (though you can't normally touch him) There is air conditioning and we also got a big hot water bottle and it was amazing to cuddle it at night! There was also some spring water(?) available to drink. The owner is able to explain all amenities in English so I didn't have to turn on my Japanese speaking part of my brain. She also gave some recommendations on where to go. Asami is an excellent host 👍 I wish i could come here again.

Pension Yumigahama is set in a residential area, 3 minutes’ walk from curved, sandy Yumigahama Beach. Wi-Fi and parking are free, and fishing equipment is available for rent.

My 4 year old, my puppy and me loved the stay at this pension, loved the onsen and our room was chilly and clean. Very wonderful staff and the location was great.
