This Guest house is just such a chilled and relaxed place to stay. Old style wooden rooms in a wooden house, but with all the modern mod cons. I had the balcony room. Very spacious room with a powerful fan, Aircon, fridge, kettle, coffee and a big furnished balcony. Nice and airy room with mosquito netting on the windows and the balcony door. Hot shower which is actually getting properly hot.There is a big garden with lots of tables. A small indoor restaurant and you can have your food in the garden as well. Friendly, clean and well run place. Good WiFi everywhere. If you need a rest or time to plan your travels, then this place will definitely fit the bill.

- 'Baan jaidee' means 'warm heart', and, this is exactly what the owners have and radiate. Po and her husband are welcoming and very kind. They take exceptionally good care of their guests. - The bedroom and 2 shared bathrooms are very clean. - The guesthouse is neatly decorated with curiosa from Asian countries. Cool! - The guests are very quiet during the evening and night. (I could sleep in until 8 (and even later), which felt rejuvenating.) - Don't miss Po's breakfast: it's tasty. And good news for the coffee lovers: the coffee here is fresh and strong. - I stayed 3 nights, which gave me time to explore Trat (Wat Buppharam, the lake and night market), to read (Márquez) and to relax. - ขอบคุณมาก! What a cute charming place! We loved our stay at Artist’s place! The room is nice and clean, has lots of character! The bed was comfy too. The staff is very friendly, she helped us arrange a boat trip to Koh Kood which was very convenient. The breakfast was also excellent! Definitely recommend staying here!

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The even helped me getting a boat ticket to Koh Mak. The room itself is very big, clean and has a big working table.

This is a well appointed, well decorated quaint little hut with two rooms. Super comfy. The owner/caretaker was helpful, friendly and attentive to our needs. If you're lucky, as we were, you get visited by cute monkeys.

Perfect situated on the Gulf of Thailand with a view in the direction of Koh Chang! Fantastic support by the owner. Nice hike through the mangrove wood on concrete walkways and a small fishing harbour.

We slept there like a stones ! It’s a nice place close to 7-11, night market, 20min walk from bus station. They have organised tuk tuk from the guesthouse to Koh Chang ferry for 80baht per person.

Decided to take a punt on staying at Big Elk from a shortlist of places I had identified in hindsight my only regret was not to have been staying there for longer. It's located at the bend of the road, so I've probably missed it on previous trips to Koh Chang, but once inside it's a beautiful set-up of really nice bungalows located around a pool. The bungalows themselves are really nice - lovely furnishings and very quiet. The setting is great with the jungle in the background and with the restaurant and reception at the front there is no traffic sounds at all. Best of all are the staff - really friendly and helpful and make for a great stay there, including the lovely cats and dogs. Have to also give a mention to the food at Big Elk, which is really marvellous, very high quality. All in all a great place to stay and we'll definitely be back.
