We chose Kikuchi instead of Kumamoto, to get away from the city before our trip to Mt Aso. We got a lovely country house, but the main benefit was the lovely couple who hosted us. Super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast, my wife skipped hers, so the host packed it as a bento box for our lunch. Vegetables from the garden. A guided visit to the forest to see fireflies. Tastes of local food and drink. It was if we were lodging with my favourite aunt and uncle.

She also helps us with Universal Adapter and reserving Izakaya Restaurant. The room is comfy and the place is located in tiny town which is really lovely.

We are delighted with the friendship and dedication with which the Suhsi House is run. If you want to experience sushi at the next level, you've come to the right place. The sushi master looks at sushi omakase, which roughly means "the chef's choice", i.e. the chef prepares the menu according to the seasonality and availability of the ingredients. The evening was simply fantastic. You can reach the accommodation perfectly by underground from Fukuoka, it is also a perfect starting point to explore the Itoshima Peninsula. The accommodation is very well maintained, clean, new and even has free coffee and tea. There is also a fridge for storing products. The bedrooms are typical Japanese, so a bit smaller and with futon (which were very comfortable). I 100% recommend a stay and definitely try the sushi. The warmth and dedication is just fantastic. We loved every second of our stay at IKOI in Yanagawa. The guest house was a lovely half hour walk from the train station along the canal in an absolutely beautiful neighborhood. We loved strolling around the area and it was easy to get to boat rides and restaurants nearby. IKOI itself is wonderful and had everything we needed. Warm room (can't say that about every place we have stayed at), super comfortable beds and other amenities in tip top condition. The view of the garden from the cafe is honestly worth the price alone, it's breathtaking. It's hard to believe you're not in the countryside when looking out that window. Finally, I have to dedicate a paragraph of this review to Jo, the owner. He was so helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. He helped us with figuring out transportation, he called a restaurant for us to help with a reservation and he recommended some local places that ended up being the highlight of our stay in Yanagawa. I cannot say enough great things about our host, just 10/10. Overall, our stay at IKOI was wonderful and I could not recommend this place more!
