The setting is amazing, a rural scene overlooking the beautiful Whanganui River. Chickens and ducks, and a wide range of fruit trees lie between the Signal Box and the River. The large trees are home to native birds. There's always something to watch or contemplate on. It is so peaceful. The Signal Box is set up for two people so don't bring the family . You need to be able to climb a flight of stairs to get there but once inside the 180 degree outlook is a wondrous thing. And all of this just 8 minutes drive to town! It would be a great place to have some alone time.

We liked everything! Nice ground level apartment with plenty of room, comfortable bed and very clean. Carol was a great host and made sure we felt at home. Breakfast was continental with 3 different types of cereal and other amenities. We would detour out of our way to stay here again! Even got a spot in the garage for my rental car...can't beat that! Great value for the price.

This is a really well appointed self contained small apartment in a very quiet part of town. Parking is outside the property on the street but very convenient and safe. The villa has all facilities for cooking and we eat in the villa all 3 nights. With an excellent washer and dryer we wee able to wash clothes and dry outside on a drying rack - ample pegs provided. There is a small, elegant garden with a sitting area to enjoy the evening sunshine. All was very comfortable. Supermarkets were close. It was a 1.5 to 2 km walk into town, which we did not do. It’s absolutely perfect in every way. Alan and Lois really have found a slice of paradise. They are also the most wonderful people and fantastic hosts. You will not find better. This guest wing is extremely spacious , clean and comfortable. The beds are like clouds. Alan and Lois go above and beyond to ensure you’ll have everything you need. The breakfast is amazing and we could have chatted all day. Thank you for making our stay so lovely. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
