Possibly, the loveliest little cottage we've stayed in. The hosts are so friendly and the location is beautifully situated in the Yorkshire countryside with the sun streaming into the south facing picture windows. The bed in the master bedroom was super comfy and the ensuite beautifully appointed. We didn't try the other bedroom but sure that's equally as comfy. Ideal for families exploring the city and the countryside to the north and east of York. So many places to visit that at least a full week is required.

Marcus and Lindsay were so welcoming and the cottage was super cosy especially with the wood burner on a rainy evening. The bed was super comfy and it was the perfect location for us with so much to see around. Would definitely stay again hopefully for longer next time!

This was a fantastic location. The cottage was homely and cosy. Beds were comfortable and it had all the facilities that we needed. I loved the surrounding area and looking at the lake from the cottage was fabulous. I particularly loved to see the dogs as they always greeted us when we arrived back, running towards us with a waggy tail. They were super cute :) Very good value for money and would definitely recommend to others and will definitely be back.

The house was clean and perfect for what we used it for went for my daughters 21st with family and friends and couldn’t of asked for anything more it catered for all ages we all had a blast and the kids were entertained with the pool while us adults enjoyed the hot tub and party areas 😍

Gary and Jennifer are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. Backside Lodge is equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. Lovely warm welcome on arrival. Homemade scones, biscuits, sweets, bottle water, bottle of beer and a bottle of wine waiting in the lodge for use. A lovely touch to a perfect stay. The bed was so comfortable and the lide was extremely clean. Can't wait to go back.
