We had a perfect 1 night stay at Wawat. Assem (the owner) welcomed us with open arms and he arranged everything for us, from getting tickets to the lightshow to falafel for breakfast. He was helped by his nephew who drove us around last night. They are a great team together! Assem speaks English perfectly btw, communication with him has always been great, from when we made the booking until we left. The guest house is brand new and you can tell: it's squeaky clean, the beds and bedding are in perfect state and the much needed aircon cooled us down within minutes. There's also a communal area with couches and a table with chairs. This makes it feel very homey. Definitely the best guest house we stayed at during our Egypt trip so far. I highly recommend staying here, not only for the help you'll receive but also for the very comfortable rooms and the Nubian hospitality and warmth. Thank you so much, Assem and family 🫶

I found Safari Abu Simbel from Booking.com, after reading the feedbacks from others travellers of how helpful of the owner Hany is, so I decided to give it a go and stay at his hotel for two days. The hotel is located inside the village and close to the lake, there are some good restaurants around and basically can walk everywhere, I spent 35 minutes slowly walking down to the Abu Simbel temple, you can also find a little further away to walk to the desert if you feel adventure which I did. On my last day stay I even walked to the airport, it only takes 40 minutes. Hany speaks good English, very funny and friendly, he welcomed me and picked me up at the café at the temple of Abu Simbel, after checked in I asked if I can find a restaurant for lunch, he was not just take me to a local restaurant but also have lunched with me. After a few chat, we feel like becoming friend, He also arranged the night show ticket for me at the temple with no extra charge. The next day I wondered around the little village even have a little breakfast at a very local restaurant without understanding any Arabic, which I found it fun and adventurous.Hany took me at a lake for a swim, even in winter here, the water felt warm enough, much warmer than England. I was swimming around and enjoyed the quiet and natural environment, Hany was a good photographer, he took some pictures of me and made few videos when the sun starting go down. When I was alone at the village I just feel like I am the only tourist here and whenever I went, the locals looked at me with a smile and few of them even drove pass me and blowing horns and say to me: welcome to Egypt!

Great host who will make sure you enjoy your stay. Rooms are comfortable. Silent neighborhood, good sleep. Host is very knowledgeable about Nubian history. In addition, gave many useful tips on how to get the most out of Abu Simbel, such as with tours and restaurant recommendation.
