United KingdomI found Safari Abu Simbel from Booking.com, after reading the feedbacks from others travellers of how helpful of the owner Hany is, so I decided to give it a go and stay at his hotel for two days.
The hotel is located inside the village and close to the lake, there are some good restaurants around and basically can walk everywhere, I spent 35 minutes slowly walking down to the Abu Simbel temple, you can also find a little further away to walk to the desert if you feel adventure which I did. On my last day stay I even walked to the airport, it only takes 40 minutes.
Hany speaks good English, very funny and friendly, he welcomed me and picked me up at the café at the temple of Abu Simbel, after checked in I asked if I can find a restaurant for lunch, he was not just take me to a local restaurant but also have lunched with me. After a few chat, we feel like becoming friend, He also arranged the night show ticket for me at the temple with no extra charge.
The next day I wondered around the little village even have a little breakfast at a very local restaurant without understanding any Arabic, which I found it fun and adventurous.Hany took me at a lake for a swim, even in winter here, the water felt warm enough, much warmer than England. I was swimming around and enjoyed the quiet and natural environment, Hany was a good photographer, he took some pictures of me and made few videos when the sun starting go down.
When I was alone at the village I just feel like I am the only tourist here and whenever I went, the locals looked at me with a smile and few of them even drove pass me and blowing horns and say to me: welcome to Egypt!
