Loved summer hiking from this beautiful mountain lodge to escape the city heat. 3 minutes walk to bus service with access to multiple trailheads throughout Shiga Kogen. The owners create such a welcoming cosy space to escape - thoughtful, stylish, beautifully presented. Incredible quality in a home-feel environment. Private in-house onsen, superb home cooked meals. Highly recommend both breakfast and dinner (best decision)!

The location of Karasuya is in the very center of Takasaki which is extremely convenient and let’s you get to most places on foot. All shared spaces and bedroom were very clean and cozy. I like that there were shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom for guests to use. The guesthouse provides hairdryer as well. The Karasuya’s owner is very kind person and speaks English fluently. You can feel his hospitality and passion for what he is doing in every square centimeter of the guesthouse. I’m especially thankful for him showing me a really cool magazine with a bunch of stylish cafes, restaurants and other places in Takasaki. Without his help I would miss most of them.
