It was perfect!!! Extremely comfortable, extremely convenient! And good that there was parking space! It was always clean and because we booked during the week, we got super lucky and we got the female dorm to ourselves! Staff was extremely warm and welcoming and accomodating!

The friendly host was exceptionally kind and helpful. The property is located in the calm and cosy traditional Japanese neighbourhood with an access to the beach within mins. The sunrise from the nearby wharf was superb and is worth getting up early.

This is a beautifully preserved old house, yet equipped with modern air conditioning, bathroom, and kitchen facilities. The space is clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a garden and a traditional storehouse. It’s not suitable for a rushed one-night stay — ideally, you should spend 2 to 3 days here to truly experience the architecture and lifestyle of the old house. The building itself is of historical value, and its previous owners have interesting stories. Simply put, you can think of this place as a small museum. Additionally, Murata Town, where it’s located, is also well worth a visit.

The exceptional thing about this hostel is how the staff actively made an effort into welcoming travellers, Japanese and international into a temporary family. They helped with starting conversation and organizing dinner for staff and guests, and it just works. 11/10 staff experience for me. The atmosphere is great because of it too. Other than that it is just a nice little guest house with a couple of rooms, better showers than usual and everything I needed for my stay.

Great location, really friendly owner who was very accommodating. Felt more than welcome and couldn’t recommend a better place to stay.

Great guesthouse, highly recommend it. The owner is super nice and very helpful ! Also the guesthouse is perfectly located, it is 2 to 5 minutes walk to all major spots to visit in Matsushima.
