Rangala House is a very special place. The setting is so peaceful and beautiful, with a panoramic view that changes almost every time you blink. The staff are wonderful. Amala will help you with whatever you need and there is always someone around to serve drinks and food and to chat to about the gorgeous surroundings. They organised an Ayurvedic massage for us with a local man which was wonderful. Anthony, the owner, is incredibly warm and welcoming and a joy to be around. The chefs deserve a very special mention. The food at Rangala House was probably the best we had throughout the month we spent in Sri Lanka. As two backpackers travelling on a budget, we are so happy we decided to splurge a little and stay here - it was worth every penny. Thank you all!

The man running the hotel is very nice, the food is good (and a lot) and the hotel is in a very nice location. From the inside the hotel looks a bit older, but that's fair for the price you pay.

Absolutely the best part of staying at the Nest are people who manage this lovely guesthouse. They welcome you with a smile, cup of tea and great conversations. They even offered to join me on my trip to the indigenous people of the forest in Dambana. More places with atmosphere like that <3

This guesthouse, run by a couple, is about 1 km from the bus station. After checking in, I learned they have two separate buildings with rooms. The newer one looks decent, but I stayed in the older one. It’s very basic and somewhat clean, but the room is quite dated. There’s no Wi-Fi, the room is warm and hot without air conditioning, and the shower only has cold water. The electric fan is noisy, and sometimes bugs come into the room from outside. They provide mosquito coils, though. For such a low price, this is probably what you get. The couple is friendly and kind, clearly good people. They even helped me receive my courier delivery.

We put 10 out of 10 because we cannot put more. The area is amazing, off the beaten-path Our host Rohana is extremely knowledgeable about his country and more, his English is very good, we could converse with him for hours. The dishes prepared by himself and Nisha were absolutely delicious. Last but not least, the room has the biggest bed that we have never seen and comfy, the view is breathtaking on the landscape, sunrise, sunset,… This place is an hidden gem for nature lovers, people seeking for authentic and genuine encounters with locals.
