Quinta das Caçadoras is a truly one-of-a-kind experience. I've never been anywhere like it. The quinta is a sprawling property where countless rescue animals roam free in harmony. Claudia and Tiago go about their business on the farm with endless love and patience, followed by numerous dogs at all times! All of the animals, from the dogs to the goats to the horses, are extremely friendly and relaxed. They truly seem to be living peaceful, happy lives together in their new home. The hosts couldn't have been kinder. Claudia picked me up from the train station, showed me around the farm, introduced me to her visiting friends, and let me help out with feeding time. We had great conversations and she's truly a magical person who has created a magical place. I highly recommend it for solo travelers who want to find both connection and tranquility! The accomodation was brand new and everything was spotless. Claudia delivers fresh breakfasts outside the door each morning and made me a special gluten free option. (There is a gate around the terrace in front of the accommodation so you can sit outside and eat without a friendly donkey sharing your meal ;)) I can't wait to visit Quinta das Caçadoras again ❤️

It was a little hard to find. Tucked away in a town square (a largo). Everyone in the town was super helpful from the grocery store employees to the group of gentlemen on the corner. Such a quaint place. The owner quickly came to help us get in because I couldn’t retrieve my email for the door code. Everything was as listed. The shared kitchen had everything you need…including a washing machine. A bonus is the buffet restaurant about 2 miles away. Restaurante Dona Isilda —definitely worth a visit! One price all you can eat & drink—traditional Portuguese

Central location. We enjoyed breakfast in the local bakery which allowed to feel local atmosphere rather than hotel restaurant. There is door between hotel reception and bakery so guests can access it without going outside. There was tea and coffee amenities in the room as well as bottle of wine waiting for us. Easy access to the hotel with the code or room card.
