A lovely, family-owned guesthouse with a truly welcoming atmosphere. I stayed here the day before starting the Berliner Höhenweg, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and cozy, with a balcony offering beautiful mountain views. Quiet location, yet close to everything in Mayrhofen. Perfect for relaxing before or after days on the trails. I would definitely stay here again.

From the sauna, the hot tub, the well equipped kitchen, music in the bathroom and well thought out furniture to the amazing location, the friendliest, fluffiest cats and the stars and white mountains and quietness. The breakfast was good and plentiful and would have had something for every taste. Staff were friendly and the rooms were cleaned spotlessly by the time we returned from Breakfast each day. Location wise the hotel is right next to the main walking areas in Obergurgl so access was very easy.

We used the Gasthof Schontal as a base for travelling to and from Kitzbuhel for a days skiing and the Hahnenkahm races. A half hour drive takes you to Kirchberg in Tyrol where there is free parking and a free shuttle train which takes you into Kitzbuhel itself. Perfect
