Situated in Rantepao in the South Sulawesi region, THE SINGKI HOME FAMILY has a balcony. This homestay features a garden. Rooms include a terrace with mountain views and free WiFi. The location is perfect, you can visit the city center by foot. The place is beautifull, i loved spending the end of my days just reading in the balcony watching over the rice field. The beds are confortable and clean. The breakfast is super tasty. But the best part of our stay were Imanuel and Kevin, father and son, and our hosts in their homestay. They will always give their best smile and effort to help you around, and they have such a big heart! I compleatly adore them both. Imanuel took us over some places to visit like graveyards, ricefields, and funeral ceremonys, always giving us the best explanations of the traditions and advise on how to behave and dress for the ceremonys. The two of them made our stay so very special and authentic. I will never forget this amazing days in toraja.

Ne Pakku Manja Family Home has garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, situated in Rantepao. This homestay features a garden. The accommodation offers airport transfers, while a car rental service is also available. Never thought I’d leave a place in tears and yet I did here. What a wonderful, profound experience. My partner and I were lucky enough to stay for just two days, and had the absolute pleasure of doing a three-day tour with Meyske, who is also a guide herself. The Homestay: They truly put the home in homestay. Very quickly we realized that when returning from a tour, we weren’t saying “let’s go back to the homestay”, we were saying “let’s go home.” instead. The place is small and simple: four basic rooms with a mattress, pillow, and blanket. No windows, but a mosquito net (we only saw two mosquitoes the whole time). Two toilets and one shower (cold water, though you can ask for a kettle of hot water). Roosters and pigs can be noisy, so earplugs help. And yet, the feeling? Like coming home to friends. With only four rooms, evenings naturally turn into sharing stories, bonding over a beer, and enjoying some of the best food you’ll eat in Indonesia, cooked by Meyske and her kind, lovely mother. Don’t skip the dinners. They’re fantastic. The Tour with Meyske: Yes, it’s pricier than many options, and you’ll certainly find cheaper guides. But with Meyske, you’re getting something rare. Most tours show you places and facts. Meyske tells you a story. Like any good story, there’s an opening chapter, rising action, real characters you come to care about, and a powerful ending that leaves you deeply touched. That’s exactly how it feels to be guided by her. On day one we learned about the history and background of the Torajan people. Then, step by step, she immersed us in ceremonies, connected us with people, and shared meals and stories with them. Finally, she wove in her own story, showing how it connects to the bigger picture of life in Tana Toraja. And that’s when we were left in tears. I won’t spoil her personal story since it’s something you should experience yourself but I will say this: she once mentioned she hopes for a small, traditional Torajan funeral.

A good location for a relaxing holiday in Rantepao, Mama Tia Family Homestay is a homestay surrounded by views of the mountain. The property features a garden, shared lounge and parking on-site among other facilities. Featuring a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. The homestay features family rooms and facilities for disabled guests. This is the best homestay ever! Yansen and his family already started taking care of us before we even got there. Everybody was super nice and giving good tips (funeral ceremonies, further transport, where to buy postcards;)…). They also provide laundry service and very very good food! We came as strangers and it felt like we left as a part of the family!
