We wish we spoke better Japanese so we could have talked more. They were such interesting people.

The location and owners make this homestay special. The latter is at the foot of a historic and important Buddhist shrine and resting place of Kato Kiyomasa, builder of the Kumamoto Castle, while the former are generations-old family of soba makers. While breakfast didn't come with soba, it was one of the best I've eaten in Japan. The space is comfortable, traditional and has everything you may need, including excellent views of the city.

C’était simplement parfait ! L’emplacement est super, on peut faire beaucoup de choses à pied. L’auberge en elle même est sublime ! La décoration comporte des tonnes de détails amusant et originaux. Cest un endroit rempli de personnalité. C’était très reposant comparé aux auberges classiques et la dame qui accueille est adorable !!! Foncez !

L’établissement Minpaku Jaito-民泊じゃいと-Homestay in Traditional House vous accueille à Amakusa (Kumamoto), à proximité de ce lieu d’intérêt : Hondo Beach. All in all a perfekt stay. Especially the hosts were really great. On my leaving day they had a trip planed into the same direction I was heading. Not only did they bring me to the harbor, we also had a little sightseeing tour on the way :)

Very beautiful, clean guesthouse that was renovated from an old japanese home. The owners are both very kind and went out of their way to make my stay as nice as possible. You can tell that they really care about this place! Aso station (startpoint for the tour bus) can be reached in around 20 mins with bus or train. At night it is quiet and even in the summer surprisingly cool. I highly recommend to stay here if you are visiting Aso!
