He carried my suitcase up to the 3rd floor when I checked in and insisted on carrying it back down when I checked out. The hostel was so clean and the kitchen was equipped perfectly to cook a nice meal. I really loved staying at this hostel. Thank you to the really kind, amazing staff that made this stay really pleasant. Also a perfect location! Right in the town centre and a 30second walk to the station!

The room was very clean and offered a great view of an in-house Japanese garden. The accommodation had everything you needed, cleanliness, convenience, and a great location near all the attractions. You can easily visit them just by walking. The room was spacious, comfortable, and included storage space for personal belongings. This accommodation provides a great overall experience.

The staff amazing and everyone were very friendly! They organize games nights and even had a Christmas party 🎄🎅🏽 There is a lot of information provided on the walls (like markets date and location, and recommendations) Super clean, comfortable and good value for money. I took a single room which had a sink which made getting ready so easy. The showers are on the first floor, and the towels are just next to them so you could take as many as you needed. The location- just next to Kyoto station, you can easily get there and get everywhere you need to.

Well worth the effort to travel to experience a lovely ryokan, it's host and the town. I paid for dinner and I'm SO glad I did. It was a highlight of my stay and in deed a highlight of my 5 week trip in Japan. You sit in a sunken seating area and watch the ryokan owner/cook prepare what felt like a large number of individual dishes. The food was absolutely delicious. I was concerned about hearing other guests because, being an older house, the walls are thin - but the night I was there all the guests were respectfully quiet. I had a view over the "river" which may be a mis-nomer - but it is a peaceful stream running through the pretty street. I highly recommend a visit.
