This is a quiet and beautiful small tourist village, situated at the National Park of Drilon and surrounded by the beautiful, unique Ohrid Lake which provides a unique aquatic ecosystem of worldwide importance, with more than 200 endemic species in it. Ohrid Lake covers an area of 358 square kilometers (138 sq. mi) and has been part of UNESCO since 2019. The beauty of this area lies in the Ohrid lake view which is one of the oldest lakes in the world and the deepest one in the Balkans. It is well known and very special for the Coran fish grown there. It serves traditional food of the area in all the restaurants nearby and you can taste different raki – a traditional alcoholic drink made by the locals. In addition, it is very close to the borders with North Macedonia, Greece, and Montenegro. There are two main customs easily reached to visit these neighborhood countries and a ferry line is weekly operating from Pogradec city to Saint Naum Monastery and/or North Macedonia. Despite this option, it is only a 20-minute walk to reach the famous Monastery of "Saint Naum" in North Macedonia where many tourists pay a visit to it. In addition, it is only 1 hour and 21 minutes (56 km) away from Ohrid Airport. As a tourist village surrounded by mountains and hills, the winter is also notable for the snow and the heating by wooden stoves where you can also bake chestnuts which are found in bulk in this area and drink wine made by the locals. Many tourists go hiking in the mountain nearby and also smell the fresh air. ( a traditional drink of the village). A very famous movie entitled “The Lady from the City” was filmed in this place during the dictatorship period in Albania. There is still that funny story alive and there is a memorial of (the Lady) the main actor, which many people visit and take pictures of.
