Family Retreat is hosted by Mandy and Rob Skinner. We love Kalbarri and this is our future retirement home and we have been visiting it since 1989 when we fell in love with the place traveling around Australia when my wife and I we in our twenties. I spent a fair bit of time renovating the house about 8 years ago and want to provide guests with an environment where they can enjoy themselves in this great place.
I personally love the fishing and used to evade the huge swells on the other side of the river to get abalone in the mornings and set a cray pot off oyster reef again across the river. In the early days I used to venture through the river mouth most mornings in my ten foot tinny and troll for Mackerel close by with a cord line and spoon. Also my best tailor is 840mm again in the rivermouth. My wife just loves the beach and the river mouth views.
Our kids are grown up now but we took them to Kalbarri every Xmas for holidays and they would catch up with friends there every year and it is a safe place for kids.
I loved to go body boarding with my Son Mark at little Jakes and once I was brave/dumb enough to try Jakes on a big day. Only once. Not a bad site to see the guys surfing Jakes and take the kids to blue holes for a swim.
I hope you find plenty to love about Kalbarri.
