Mafic House is a 140-year-old classic Australian homestead restored and luxuriously upgraded for comfort.
The house sits proud above Mt Franklin Estate, producer of boutique Italian variety Mafic wines in the gold era village of Franklinford just 15 minutes to Daylesford, 10 minutes to Hepburn, 20 minutes to Castlemaine.
Mafic House has three large bedrooms, the king master with ensuite and French doors to the deck of the pool (heated November-April). Two additional Queen bedrooms have extensive views, and share a large bathroom with shower, clawfoot bath, toilet and tucked-away European laundry. Bedroom three’s bay window beautifully frames Lalgambuk/Mt Franklin.
Heating is hydronic with adjustable panels in every room, small wood heater in the dining area, and additional living area heating/cooling by reverse cycle unit.
The large farm kitchen connects with dining and living areas, and features a induction stove. Deep concertina windows open to the wrap-around veranda and pool deck. The property is dog friendly, yard is secure for larger dogs only
Enjoy the outdoor spa with vineyard views to Mt Tarrengower and Mt Kooroocheang, Impressionist sunsets and dark night skies that make the Milky Way almost touchable.
Secure fencing for all but the most excitable of dogs, and a cot and high chair available for those with little kids.

The Daylesford-Hepburn Region is famous for its mineral waters and is known as the Spa Centre of Australia. Our beautiful scenery includes the famous Lake Daylesford, the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens and the Wombat State Forest. There are historic buildings in the main street of Daylesford and the region’s history lies in the rush for gold. Lake Daylesford now covers land upon which gold was first discovered and offers lakeside picnic spots, cafes, walking tracks, fishing and pedal boating. The internationally known Lake House sits on its shores and there are public BBQ facilities and amenities adjacent to the main parking area.
Lake Jubilee is located south of Daylesford (about a 10-15 minute drive) and is ideal for fishing, boating and swimming. If you are looking for a waterfall, visit Sailor’s Falls, less than 30 minutes south from the Daylesford Town Centre. If you are into the outdoors, Daylesford sits at the junction of three walking trails that are part of the Great Dividing Trail – the Lerderderg Track, the Dry Diggings Track and the Wallaby Track. The Hepburn Regional Park is a little less challenging and contains mineral springs and relics of the bygone gold era.
