Lucaston is a rural locality in the local government area of Huon Valley in the South-east region of Tasmania. Thirty minutes south of Hobart and an hour from Hobart airport.
It is home to Lucaston Park Orchards, which grows raspberries, cherries, plums and apples. It is simply picturesque - you can get access to freshly picked apples and just pressed apple juice from road side stalls.
10 minutes away is the renowned Willie Smiths 'Apple Shed', a converted barn turned eatery and cider shop (it even has a little apple museum). The rustic style restaurant invites the freshest produce that the Huon Valley has to offer. They have live music every Friday night, and an Artisan market each Saturday morning. Do not miss their famous apple pie, apple cider, and apple tea!
The closest township is Ranelagh and Huonville, where you can find all the essential services, grocery shops, bars, cafes, and restaurants.
Lucindale is your gateway to Tasmania's 'deep south', a remote corner of the world filled with magical rainforest, mountain peaks, windswept beaches, age-old caves, hot springs, and award-winning food. It is so pristine and remote - as close to pure nature as most people get in a lifetime.
Visit the astonishing Hartz Mountain range and the many walks to high altitude, alpine lakes. Stop at the Hastings Caves to explore ancient caves and soak in the hot springs. Drive down to the scenic, beautiful Cockle Creek, as far south as you can drive in Australia - just open ocean until you reach Antarctica. Stop at the many quirky and stunning hamlets along the way, such as Geeveston, Dover, and Southport. There is so much to do and see in this extraordinary corner of the world.
