The spacious and secluded new-build offers 3-4 (opt) bedrooms with 1-2 (opt) bathrooms with double glazing throughout and stunning views over the Aire Valley.
Please Note:-To keep prices low for 2-4 guests, our standard rate sleeps 8 in three bedrooms & one bathroom. The fourth King Main bedroom & en-suite is offered as an optional extra (sleeping 10 in total). Please message the host through this website if you would like this optional extra.
The house has wide north-facing under-cover verandahs for that morning coffee, plus a small undercover Weber BBQ. There is also an outdoor setting and fire pit.
The open plan kitchen/living/dining boasts stunning views and a large wood fire with double glazed sliding doors leading to the outside dining setting and fire pit. There is a separate TV room/reading room accessed from the living room through sliding doors.
The main bathroom has a separate freestanding bath with views over the valley. The bedrooms are equipped with built in robes, overhead fans, electric heaters and bock-out blinds. There is also a separate powder room and a separate toilet, plus a large central laundry.
There are sensitive wildlife corridors on either side of the house so we cannot accommodate large dogs. If you have a small house pet you would like to bring please contact us prior to booking. Charges apply.
Supermarkets, petrol and a hospital are 40 minutes away in Colac and Apollo Bay.
As retired classical musicians we enjoy welcoming people from anywhere and everywhere to this magical two year old property in one of the loveliest parts of the world.
While we live off property, it is being established as a working nut orchard, "Otway Nut Grove", which at two years old, is still very much in embryonic form! Guests are very welcome to explore the property and may stumble across one of us working quietly away out of sight. Contact is entirely up to guests - from none to a guided tour!
The Little Aire creek starts its journey to the sea at the bottom of the property, growing to become the magnificent Hopetoun Falls, a ten minute drive away. There are steep rainforest gullies and a small dam near the house also and guests are advised to supervise children at all times.
We have a small cabin tucked away at the bottom of the property which we or workers may sometimes access from the back of the property if there is work to do.
The wood fire in the open plan living area is set ready with enough firewood for a fire, and also for the fire pit.
If guests use the BBQ, we provide cleaning materials and require it be cleaned after use, or unfortunately must charge a cleaning fee. There is a tub stored under the house at the back steps for immersing the grill.
This awe-inspiring national park area is only a ten minute drive to the renown Redwood forest, spectacular waterfalls, bike trails and the famous Otways Fly Tree Top Adventures.
Turtons track, also only a ten minute drive away, with its giant mountain ash and tree ferns lining the edge of the hair-pin bends - is a slightly hair-raising must!
Johanna Beach, one of the loveliest beaches along the Great Ocean Road, is only a 30 minute drive, and forms part of the 110 klm Great Ocean Walk, with the Twelve Apostles and Apollo Bay being a 50 minute drive away.
If staying a few of days, follow the Otway Harvest Trail (Google search) to find the charming wineries and breweries of the Otway Ranges. Or take a day-trip to Forrest and Lake Elizabeth with a detour to the lovely Stephenson's Falls.
The world-famous Brae restaurant in Birregurra is a 50 minute drive. Closer to home is The Perch Bar and Restaurant at Lavers Hill for fine dining, whilst the Gellibrand Hotel, also a 15-20 minute drive, offers great pub food along with live music and Irish sing-alongs on weekends (Note: best to book and arrive early!)
The historic town of Beech Forest with the famous Old Beech Bike Trails and E-bike tours, is a must for cycling enthusiasts, while the quaint Art-Reach cafe offers home baked cakes, soup and coffee and sandwiches, plus an array of local artwork.
Beech Forest also boasts its own glow worms up the bike track to Ferguson in the township, is only a 15 minute walk from the property - please ask us for directions.
Whether you’re after relaxation, adventure, food, wine, farmers markets or simply an escape to the pristine wilderness, and the peace on offer in the region, the array of things to do in the Otway Ranges will not disappoint.
