St James Miners Rest is an amazing converted church located in Miners Rest near Ballarat Victoria. Circa 1859 this Gothic Revival church was originally the St James Presbyterian Church of Miners Rest before being lovingly converted into a beautiful accommodation. It offers truely stylish and boutique accommodation loaded with lots of extra luxuries. From the moment you walk in you will be in awe of the beautiful features. Gothic revival style entry doors, exposed timber beams and beautiful old brickwork. You will be blown away. Staying a church submersed in history is truely a unique experience but with any old buildings you with enjoys some quirks too. In the downstairs living area the beautiful church windows don’t have any coverings. We feel the beautiful church style windows will loose their appeal if they are covered up in any way. This doesn’t compromise your privacy in any way in fact adds to the appeal of the whole church experience. Cleaning is our highest priority and we take pride in making sure everything is clean and sanitised before your stay. Staying in a converted church is truely an unique experience and I’m sure you’ll love this little gem!

Hello I am Kylie and I love to travel so when I had the opportunity to own this amazing converted church and turn it into an accommodation I couldn’t resist. We also offer accommodation in a gorgeous country cottage also located in Miners Rest. My husband and kids are my greatest loves. Live life to the fullest, you never know what’s around the corner.

St James is located in a quiet family friendly street in Miners Rest Victoria not far from Ballarat. Please take note that we are not located in central Ballarat but are in a quiet suburb approximately 15 mins from Ballarat central. If you are after the hustle and bustle of a central location this is not your property. However we are located within walking distance to a community park with basketball court, playground equipment, bbqs and bmx bike track. A short walk further and you will reach the local tavern known for its affordable country style meals and cold beer and the local IGA is well equipped with everything you need during your stay. Also close by is the Miners Rest general store which offers take away coffee, post office, fish and chips and other take away food. The church was built in 1859 in this location and has a lot of history to the area. We love Miners Rest as we are locals too and live close by. Please note on the map the location before you book.
