Alma del Rio, the 'soul of the river', is named after our little Alma Sophia, who was born here in Belize and is raised among it's diverse nature and culture.
We've been living in Belize for over 9 years. In the first 2, we managed a luxury island resort and presently own a business introducing and distributing renewable energy products. We bring into Alma del Rio all we know and believe in - professional hospitality and environmental awareness.
We will be more than happy to help you get around, visit the best destinations and plan your trip according to your preferences and budget. We know the hospitality industry in Belize well, and will be glad to share our knowledge with you.
Have a wonderful day!

Alma Del Rio is the winner for small accomodation of the year by given to us by the Belize tourism board for 2023. For the true nature lovers, Alma del Rio is simply the perfect spot to perform the Belizean verb of 'Chillaxing' . Our Charming and natural Eco-Houses are Located on the Macal river only 7 min drive from San Ignacio by the road to the famous Pine-ridge. Immersed under huge trees, enjoy the wildlife, pristine views, secluded river island-beach and swim spot with a complimentary Kayak. Our houses are equipped with all the amenities for a cozy and comfortable stay.
We try to offer a true jungle experience. Mind that living in nature means we do get visits from multi-legged or flying critters inside the house. The occasional bangs from falling branches, the chirps and clicks of geckos and howler monkey cries add to the tunes to the beautiful orchestra of nature playing for us :)

Alma del Rio is located 2 miles from Santa-Elena towards the Pine Ridge reserve. Though a sleepy road, before you reach our tranquil home, there are several great attractions - you will pass cool M farm where you can purchase fresh milk and Yogurt, Eden Valley Mayan kitchen to taste delicious locally made chocolate, 'The bluffs' bar and grill for great food, drinks and live music. 2 Min drive from our house you can find a magical waterfall in the small village of Cristo rey. In San Antonio village, we highly recommend trying the the women's co-op restaurant and Clay workshop - the best in traditional, hearty Mayan dishes that are some of the best in Belize.
