Hi, I’m your host Jenny! In 2013, after graduating and working for a year in the United States, I returned to Shanghai to work in finance industry. Everything seemed on track as I had a nice job, got married, and then had my son….But I still felt the eager to explore different things. My passion for filming and editing led me to become a social media influencer. I love dancing, so I offer free dance classes to my friends. I also enjoy camping and make monthly trips to the mountains and lakes to embrace the tranquility of nature. However, most of the time, I indulge in the unique charm of city life in Shanghai. To me, Shanghai is like New York’s girlfriend. If you stay in this city, she will comfort you, whether it’s cooking a home-cooked meal in the kitchen or lounging under the plane trees, savoring the passage of time.
In February 2019, I started hosting my first Airbnb, engaging in enriching conversations and sharing life’s little moments with travelers from around the world. This experience brought a sense of fulfillment to my life. In 2020, I began hosting on Booking, but the pandemic presented significant challenges. Fortunately, with every crisis comes new opportunities. These four years of hosting have broadened my perspective. I realized that many excellent properties go unnoticed by travelers for various reasons. I aspire to offer more uniquely Chinese accommodations to international travelers and provide Chinese hosts with a bridge to connect with the world.
Now, I have been in the homestay business for five years and currently manage 90 properties in downtown Shanghai, including five that we own. We also run a website [hillsshanghai] that helps with the many difficulties travelers may face. Through these efforts, I hope to help more people feel the warmth of home and the unique charm of the city.
