The spacious Casa del Bambu offers a nice big bedroom with a king-sized-bed, and in the living room, there is a comfy twin-sized sofa bed. We can add an additional twin sized sofa bed if you require it (so there is space for 2 additional adults or children in the living room). The spacious bathroom has a bathtub/shower with beautiful stonework and hot water. The fully outfitted kitchen is a semi-outdoor space, all screened in with mosquito netting so no bugs can get in.
The large deck/ terrace is perfect for relaxing with several hammocks and outdoor furniture. The entire house is surrounded by a maintained garden and fruit trees such as bananas, coconut (pipa), plantain, lemons, avocado, starfruit, and more. Parking is right outside the house and is undercover. The property is around 2800 square meters in total.
There is another rental property of mine on the same property, which is hidden behind trees and gardens.
My name is Janina and I am originally from Germany and have lived in Costa Rica for 12 years, on the Osa Peninsula for 11 years. I speak English, Spanish, and German fluently. I currently do not live on my own property, but I live around 20 minutes away from Casa del Bambu (with my boyfriend).
Next door to Casa del Bambu lives my co-host Josh who is originally from the USA but has lived 20+ years on the Osa Peninsula. He will be the one checking you in on the day of your arrival, and he'll be around to answer your questions. Josh has a dog called Chico, who might be paying you a visit at the house (he's very friendly and sweet). Josh has a wealth of knowledge of the Peninsula and its activities. Josh offers Dolphin and Whale watching tours, and Ronny offers guided rainforest hiking upon request.
We love meeting people from all over the world, and are happy to host you! We can help you set up any tour on the Osa Peninsula, including hikes to the world-famous Corcovado National Park. Just ask us for more info :)
The neighborhood is usually a quiet rural agricultural area with one-family homes, and lots of gardens and farmland. There are a few houses around Casa del Bambu. Behind the rental unit, there is farmland with plants and with two horses from our neighbor. The street out front of the rental home is a dead-end road with a few more families down the road.
Right around the corner, around 5 minutes walk, there is a primary and secondary forest with all 4 monkey species, sloth, coati, agouti, Tyra, pumas, ocelot, and more! The Bambu hill is connected to the world-famous Corcovado National Park, so all animals that are found there can also be found here. If you're into birding, there is ample opportunity to bird watch. We have toucans, scarlet macaws, parrots, and hummingbirds right on our property, as well as Trogons, Red-capped Manakins, Torquoise Mot Mot in the forest right around the corner. Often you can hear the howler monkeys right from your front porch in the early mornings (howling over at the forest around 5 minutes walk).
