Skarinou is perfectly located at the center of Cyprus, making it a short distance from a variety of must-see attractions:
Lefkara – Once a beloved vacation spot for Venetian merchants and even Leonardo da Vinci, Lefkara offers a glimpse into a bygone era with its charming old-world architecture. The name Lefkara, meaning "white rocks," refers to the pale limestone rocks surrounding the village. The village's history dates back to 1134 when it was first mentioned by Saint Neophytos the Recluse as his birthplace. Leonardo da Vinci is said to have visited in the late 16th century and purchased a stunning embroidered tablecloth, which he later donated to Milan Cathedral.
Agios Lazaros Church – Located in the heart of Larnaca, this 9th-century church honors Saint Lazarus, the man whom Christians believe Jesus raised from the dead. According to tradition, Lazarus fled to Cyprus to escape persecution and became the city's first bishop. The church, built over his second tomb, was renovated in the 1800s in Baroque style, with Greek Orthodox embellishments. While the tomb is now empty, a marble sarcophagus discovered under the altar during renovations in 1970 contains relics believed to be of the saint.
Choirokotia – One of the most significant prehistoric sites in the eastern Mediterranean, the Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia dates from the 7th to the 4th millennium B.C. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a fascinating glimpse into early human history.
Ayia Napa – Famous for its stunning beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters, Ayia Napa is a world-renowned destination for sun lovers and water enthusiasts alike.
With Skarinou as your base, these captivating destinations are easily accessible, allowing you to explore the rich history and natural beauty of Cyprus during your stay.
