The town of Příbor is one of the oldest in northern Moravia, with the first written records dating back to 1251. It is best known as the birthplace of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. Among its landmarks are the Parish Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the Piarist Monastery with its college and beautiful gardens. Strolling through the streets and alleyways of the town, you will find it radiant in the sunlight and mysterious in the mist.
Just a short distance away lies Štramberk, a picturesque town with a historic center and traditional Wallachian wooden architecture. Overlooking the town is the tower of the castle ruins, known as Štramberská Trúba, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. History and nature enthusiasts will also enjoy a visit to the nearby Šipka Cave, where the famous jawbone of a prehistoric child was discovered.
In neighboring Kopřivnice, you can visit museums dedicated to both trucks and passenger cars of the renowned Tatra brand and nearby the ruins of the castle of Hukvaldy.
For nature lovers, the nearby Beskydy Mountains are ideal, offering countless hiking and cycling trails, scenic viewpoints, and educational paths. The Pustevny area is famous for its Art Nouveau wooden architecture and the statue of the pagan god Radegast. The international Leoš Janáček Airport is located just 8 kilometers from Příbor and you can visit nearby Poland or Slovakia.
