Dating from the 13th century, the Augustinerkloster is a peaceful monastery located in the centre of Gotha. It provides basic yet modern rooms, a café and a historic library. Guests at the monastery can take time out to visit the Augustine Church and Sacristy, both of which date back to the late 13th century. The library includes a selection of 1,500-year-old books, and can be visited after registration. Rooms at the Augustinerkloster Gotha Herberge gGmbH are bright and simply furnished, and some offer courtyard views. Wi-Fi is available free of charge during reception opening hours. The Kloster-Café serves a buffet breakfast with tea, coffee and juice. During the week a German meal is served in the café with a view across the cloister courtyard. The hostel in the Augustinerkloster Gotha Herberge gGmbH is less than a 10-minute walk from the Schloss Friedenstein castle, the Herzogliches Museum (ducal museum) and the new Art-Nouveau Stadtbad (town baths). Gotha Main Train Station is just 3 km away, and can be reached in a 20-minute walk or a tram ride to Myconiusplatz.
