Het was schoon en op een prachtig gelegen locatie. De gastvrouw was heel vriendelijk. Er was een groot balkon en een grote badkamer met 2 slaapkamers. Genoeg spullen in de keuken aanwezig om te koken.

Company information

The person behind the project is Sarah Braun. After her studies of economics in Munich (with different stays abroad and internships), she has been working in the financial service sector in Switzerland for 3.5 years. That's where she discovered the pleaure of running as well as nature (and especially the mountains), contributing to her chouce to quit her job after a relatively short time in professional life, to maintain a different lifestyle and dedicate herself to other activities. After a 2-month long pilgrimage through France and Spain on the Camino de Santiago, Sarah felt ready to start her own project and bought old farmhouse and bed&breakfast in Igelsberg in order to renovate it and reopen it as the „Black Forest Lodge“. She also lives in it herself, nowadays with her husband and little son, striving to life a simple, independent and active life in close touch with nature. Besides running, Sarah also enjoys doing other sports such as yoga and exploring the Black Forest hiking or by bike. Reading, learning and speaking foreign languages, cooking and baking belong to her favourite activities as well.

Property information

Simple, but good – this is the concept of the Black Forest Lodge. The accomodations in a typical Black Forest House stand out through very lovely, brightly and modernly decorated rooms, where some special, modern features can be spotted. At the same time, the nostalgic charme of the house and its history is always kept. The house has common rooms as well as a big garden with a green lawn. At breakfast, a selection of regional products of high quality is served.

Neighbourhood information

Igelsberg is a community of 250 inhabitants, located around 10 km north of Freudenstadt. The place is idylically situated on a sunny hill, surrounded by fields, meadows and woods. The well-developed and signposted network of trails starts in front of the door and invites to long walks, hikes or runs. Thanks to the many cycling paths, bikers and mountain bikers will enjoy their time as well. Only around 3 km away, you can find the Nagoldtalsperre, a popular local recreation area with bathing possibilites. In the wintertime, you can practise (cross-country) skiing, a cross-country ski trail starts in close proximity to the lodge. In the nearby national park (Nationalpark Nordschwarzwald), nature and the forest can be explored in a very special way. Freudenstadt has a lot to offer as well. The town ofers some attractions, such as the largest market place in Germany. Many shops in the arcades around the place invite visitors to stroll, various cafés and restaurants to rest. Thanks to its location in the middle of the northern Black Forest, larger cities such as Baden-Baden or the French Alsace can be explored by car.
