Aqua Rooms Sarria used to be a family home, dating back from 1885. It has now been remodelled and each room has its own private bathroom. The architecture is typical Galician with thick stone walls, hardwood floors and ceilings, making the rooms comfortable and cozy for your stay. Each room is decorated tastefully and has its own closet for your convenience.
Alejandro and Marisa are the proud owners of Aqua since 2018. Both love all things Camino. They have walked the Camino themselves in 2017. They truly enjoy receiving guests each day from every part of the world and you may meet them upon your arrival since they personally check-in each guest, offering luggage transport, the Camino Passport, the Pilgrim's Shell, and any information you may need during your stay. They live only 4 blocks from Aqua so they know the best places to eat, or where to buy walking poles, a Camino guide or where to find the closest drugstore, supermarket or ATM. Both speak English and Spanish. Marisa grew up in the United States and is bi-cultural, having lived also in Argentina, where she met Alejandro. They have been living happily in Spain since 2015.
Aqua is located directly on the Camino, in the Historical part of town, next to Santa Mariña church where Pilgrim's Mass is held each day at 7 pm, and Sundays at 12 noon. The town itself was founded in the 12th century by King Alfonso IX. There is a pleasant park nearby with a lovely view overlooking the town. There are coffeehouses and pubs along the main street offering a nice pause to relax and enjoy a delicious cold beer and tapa or a cafe con leche with a huge croissant or perhaps the traditional and delicious Spanish tortilla. There are also supermarkets and drugstores nearby, as well as some of the best restaurants in the city with typical Spanish dishes and really great friendly service!
