Cal Castell, the “castle house,” is a large home with all living spaces on the 1st level. It includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a dining area and three living room areas (two of them with sofa beds), and a fully equipped kitchen. Nestled in a small Catalonia village surrounded by award-winning olive groves between coastal mountains, this home is in the center of the village, directly on the main plaza. The house has been newly restored to provide a retreat center for use by artists, writers, and those seeking a peaceful creative retreat—but when retreats aren’t happening, the home is available for rent and is perfect for large families escaping city life. On site there is also available studio space in the attic, as well as opportunities for accompanied plein air painting and writing sessions in surrounding orchards and fields, guided art journaling workshops, and assistance with transportation. Your hosts are Holly and Massi Bechiri. Wife Holly is an artist and writer, husband Massi is a real estate investor, and daughter Ani hopes to be a city planner someday (or design video games). Holly speaks English and Spanish, Massi speaks English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Tamazigh (Berber), and all three are learning Catalan. We love hosting people in our village and are happy to give you tips and ideas of what to explore in the area.

L'Albi is a small Catalan village of just over 700 people. Despite its small size, it's well resourced with two small grocery stores, a bakery, a general store, a pharmacy, three banks, an outdoor public pool, and two restaurants. Charming, peaceful, and full of life, L'Albi is the idyllic small Spanish town. The house itself is located directly on the main plaza of the town, where the weekly market, and city events for holidays, take place.
