My name is Andrea Lee. I have lived in Santiago de la Ribera since July 2009. I ran a little English bar in the village until June 2018 with family. I decided to make it permanent instead of renting in February 2018 when I put down a deposit on this property. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else now.
Before moving over here my husband and myself ran a pub in England on the Yorkshire / Lancashire Border for 16 years so we weren't new to the trade. Just new to the heat.... We ran our Spanish bar with the help of our in-laws, daughter and some good staff along the way. Eventually It was time to trade it in for a quieter pace of life. I've always been in catering or food and bar trade since leaving catering college way back in 1985. Before running our own pub I used to work weekends at a local club and worked through the week at Rolls Royce canteen in Barnoldswick. I've always liked to be kept busy.
I have two daughters, four grandsons and a granddaughter. They all live in England and we see each other as often as we can.
Andrea Lee purchased this Bungalow in 2018
So close to bus routes, they're not always on time but very clean and well looked after vehicles.
Cartagena is a must to see. I love the historic buildings with such elaborate architecture. From the Roman era. Or the port, beautiful. Boat trips are run very regular with informative context or party boats. Whatever you prefer. So many museums one with an excavation site still being worked on. Amazing look back at history.
Murcia is another Bus journey away. A very busy city.
Prefer more relaxed we're only 10 minutes from the beach. Also Lo Pagan to the left & the Mud baths to help with your overall health. Very popular and all free. Cover yourself with the warm mud. Walk around and let it dry, don't worry you wont look daft as you wont be the only one doing it, and then wash it off. As you are right next to the salt mines there are piles of salt straight from the sea.
If you like Markets....
Santiago has a large market on a Wednesday morning. With a couple of cafes situated one at either end. Through the Summer people selling cold drinks are going through the market constantly. Ideal for roast chicken, bread, pork ribs, fresh fruit, leather goods and much more.
